Viz Media’s Neon Alley Launches Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet

Viz Media has announced that the company has added the subtitled version of the Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet television anime series to its new Neon Alley free online streaming platform. For $7.99/month, U.S. fans can also access the series on mobile and digital devices through the subscription-based Hulu Plus Video-on-Demand service. The premiere of the dubbed version will follow later in 2014.

Viz Media Announces Changes for Neon Alley

Viz Media has announced significant changes for its Neon Alley service as the company moves to consolidate all of its digital streaming anime content offerings under the Neon Alley brand.

On April 1, 2014, Viz Media will transition its weekly episodic anime programming to the free ad-supported Hulu and subscription-based Hulu Plus Video-on-Demand services.

U.S. fans will be able to catch a wide variety of brand new anime, as well as classic content distributed and/or licensed by VIZ Media, for free at The site will also become the new home for all free streaming anime content previously available on, including first-run simulcasts for hit series such as Naruto Shippuden. Neon Alley Debuting English Dub of Naruto Shippuden: Blood Prison

Viz Media’s Neon Alley service is debuting the English dub of the Naruto Shippuden: Blood Prison anime film on January 26, 2014 at 8:00 p.m. EDT.

Viz Media will be releasing Naruto Shippuden: Blood Prison on Blu-ray Disc and DVD on February 18, 2014.

Kids on the Slope Coming to Neon Alley

Sentai Filmworks has announced on their Facebook page that the Kids on the Slope television anime series will be premiering on Viz Media’s Neon Alley service on January 17, 2014.

The series will be airing on Neon Alley at 9:30 p.m. PST.

Neon Alley Debuts On-Demand Web “Catch Up” Feature

Viz Media has announced a “Catch-Up” feature for the web-based version of its Neon Alley service. With this feature, Neon Alley members can either choose a “Watch Live” or “Catch Up” option when logging onto the service. The “Catch Up” option allows users have the flexibility to watch shows at their convenience, and it also allows users to search for content by individual series or by latest additions.

Every episode carried by Neon Alley will be available for a minimum of one week after its initial premiere. Other “World Premiere Neon Alley Exclusives” will remain available for a minimum of two weeks during a series’ initial run. Accessing the details of a selected episode will allow users to know how long that particular episode or movie will be available as part of the “Catch Up” service.

Viz is planning to integrate the “Catch Up” feature for Neon Alley for the Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation 3 gaming system and the PlayStation Network later in Fall 2013.

Neon Alley Streaming Revolutionary Girl Utena in Fall 2013

Neon Alley has announced it will begin streaming the Revolutionary Girl Utena television anime series on its service in Fall 2013.

Gurren Lagann to Stream on Neon Alley

Viz Media announced during the company’s Viz Animation panel at Otakon that the Gurren Lagann television anime series will begin streaming on the company’s Neon Alley service in Fall 2013.

Viz Media’s Anime Announcements at Anime Expo

Viz Media announced at its Neon Alley panel at Anime Expo that it has acquired the license for the Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet television anime series and the Blood Lad television anime series.

Viz will stream Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet on its website and on Hulu. The company said its license for this series includes streaming, home media, and merchandise rights. At this time, Viz is planning to release the series, with OVAs, on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in 2014.

The company will also be streaming Blood Lad on its website and on Hulu. Viz’s license for this series includes home media, download-to-own, and streaming rights. The series will be streamed on Neon Alley in 2014, and will also be released on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in 2014.

It was also revealed that Puella Magi Madoka Magica will begin streaming on Neon Alley in Fall 2013. In addition, more One Piece episodes will begin streaming on Neon Alley on July 12, the Naruto Shippuden: The Lost Tower anime film will begin streaming on July 28, and the Tiger & Bunny: The Beginning anime film will begin streaming on August 11.

Viz also announced that Naruto Shippuden: The Lost Tower will be released on Blu-ray Disc and DVD on September 17, 2013.

Magi – The Labyrinth of Magic to Stream on Neon Alley

Aniplex of America announced during the company’s panel at Anime Expo that the Magi – The Labyrinth of Magic television anime series will be shown on Viz Media’s Neon Alley service.
